Innovative Work Semester IV
INTRODUCTION
Happy people are most innovative and productive. Innovation is simply a new idea, device or method. It is viewed as the application of better solutions that meet new requirements, unarticulated needs or existing needs. Innovation is the process of meeting changes to something established by introducing something better and new. Innovation work helps a teacher to teach a lesson easily. The role of innovation work is very important in any subject.
As part of B.Ed curriculum, related to teaching practice we have to develop an innovative work. I attempted to create a working model of SENTENCE MAKER and which helps to identify subject and predicate.
OBJECTIVES
- To help the students to recall and remember the important portion from English Grammar.
- To help students to maintain the knowledge about parts of speech.
- Understand the concept of subject and predicate.
- Correctly identify subject and predicate from the sentence.
- Make grammatically correct sentences.
- For practice to find out subject and predicate.
- To enhance visual learning.
- To increase students interest in English classroom.
REPORT
The present innovative work is an attempt to provide a practical session to find our subject and predicate. I named this working model as Sentence Maker. Through this model students can make grammatically correct sentences and can easily identify subject and predicate of each sentences. It enhances student's interest and attention in class. Also it creates mental image and enhances visual learning.
PREPARATION
For making this sentence maker, I took cardboard pieces and arranged them as a box with four divisions. Then I took four bottles of same size and covered it woth colour paper and fitted inside the divisions. And kept its lid outside the box through four small holes. Then I covered the upper part of the box and decorated by using colour paper. Then I selected different types of sentences all have four wotds which includes noun, pronoun, verb, adverb, adjective and preposition. And I wrote each word on the bottle in a particular order. Like we can turn the bottles and can make grammatically correct sentences. When we make sentences it's subject and predicate can identify through different holes. Through these we can easily identify subject and predicate of each sentences. All students can practice couple of times with this sentence maker. Also students can understand structure of English sentences and parts of speech.
EXECUTION
For the execution of this innovative work, I prepared a lesson plan with three activities. It was an Activity lesson plan. After the rapport and entry activity, iefly I explained the concept of subject and predicate with examples by using blackboard. Then the whole class wss divided into four groups and each group had it's leader. Each leader was provided with different types of colour papers in their hands to signify the name of their groups.
For the first activity I handed over this sentence maker to each group and asked them to make different grammatically correct sentences. All groups made each sentences. For the second activity, I wrote all sentences they identified on the blackboard. And asked them to identify subject and predicate from board. All groups answered well. Then i gave sentence maker to each group and asked them to again make these sentences. When they again made those sentences, I asked them to remove covered portion and also asked them to read correct subject and predicate and also asked them to check is it similar to what they identified.
For the third activity, I showed some sentences on projector through PowerPoint presentation and asked each group to identify or make those sentences on sentence maker and correctly identify subject and predicate. After that I gave correct answers. I encouraged them all and this sentence maker helped them to do practice for identifying subject and predicate in a new method.
